‘Hawaii Hawaii Hawaii’ Premiere with BBC Concert Orchestra

On Friday 6 December Joe Cutler’s new saxophone concerto Hawaii Hawaii Hawaii receives its premiere at London’s SouthBank Centre, performed by Trish Clowes (saxophone) with the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Ben Palmer.

The 20 minute work was commissioned by BBC Radio 3 and will be broadcast on Friday 10 January in The BBC Concert Orchestra’s ‘Dystopia’ Concert. It is inspired by a short story, Sonmi-451, which forms part of the novel Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. This is Joe’s second collaboration with Trish Clowes, the first being Karembeu’s Guide to the Complete Defensive Midfielder, for her group Emulsion Sinfonietta which went on to be awarded the 2016 British Composer award in the Jazz category.
